It’s that slightly awkward point where I need to write a first blog post.
At the moment, I have precisely zero readers, barely any content, and not much reason for you to be here.
I could tell you who I am, and what this site is about, but then that’s what the ‘About’ page is for, and there’s a good chance you’ve already looked at that, so I don’t want to bore you by covering the same ground.
So, instead I’m going to do what I’m planning to do with some of my posts going forwards, and let you know what’s going on.
Last night, I went through a combination of Chris Volger’s version of The Hero’s Journey and Blake Snyder’s beats from Save the Cat, to plot out what I hope will be my first (self) published story: Doctor Deadcat. I have literally no idea when I’m likely to finish the first draft, let alone when you’ll actually be able to read it, but if you like quirky detective stories that really aren’t very serious, then hopefully it’ll be right up your alley.
I’m also about to start playtesting on what will hopefully be my first (self) published card game. That doesn’t currently have a name, and isn’t anything likely to set the world on fire. It’s a variation on something already out there, but it’s mugglenon-gamer-friendly and sould hopefully be a ‘quick win’ letting me get something ready to sell both print-on-demand and print-and-play.
In other news, there’s been a lot of family recently, with us having the (ex)brother-in-law and two of the nephews over for the weekend a couple of weeks ago, the following week we stopped overnight at my Mum’s to pick her up and take her with us to a large gathering of my family in Cardiff, and in the not-too distant future we’re off up to Scotland to see one of Clare’s cousins and meet his family (who apparently all love tabletop games), before stopping of at the in-law’s on the way home. That’s a lot of relatives in a fairly short space of time, so hopefully they won’t mind if I say that while it’s great to see them, it’d be nice to have some time to ourselves.
Of course, in amongst all this zooming around visiting, our car has decided to bite the big one. Fortunately, we have awesome friends, so Carey (Hi, Carey!) lent us her car for a week, and Sarah (Hi, Edy!) will be lending us her’s for a week. How awesome are they? Very!
I think that’s the gist of what’s going on with me, expect more potted “what’s happening in my life” stuff, more details about the things I’m working on, and articles on topics I want to share that don’t fit better on my other sites.
See you next time.
